Amazing work man! Especially with ballpoint. How did you do that? Do you use special ballpoints or what kind of technique do you use to get this result? I'm good with pencil but when I start to try to draw realistically with pen, then it never seems to work out well...
Amazing work! I see you use the 'crossing' technique. I don't know if you also work with pencil but could you give me some tips at drawing with pen? What do I have to reckon with compared to pencils? I have no idea but I'm a pretty good drawer, with penicls, but when I start to draw with pen it sucks.
hi massi...haha I have only been using ballpoint for around 3 years. before that i was like yourself, pencil all the way. Pencil is still my number one choice as i just feel i can get that little bit extra detail when im using pencil, but i should be better with pencil as that is what i have used for 20+years so i have had the practice . I only started working in pen for convenience, instead of having a wallet full of pencils from 12f to 12b i just had a single biro (sometimes two, look at my kid ink pic, you will see why haha) it was hard at first as it is so different to pencil, but pratice makes perfect! try drawing some simple things in pen, your other hand or a single eye just to get used to it, i started off drawing the simpsons characters, then started trying to shade in homers big head im sure you will find a technique that will suit you. let me know how you get on... hope this helps
Thanks for your extensive reply. I will draw some sketches and try to fill them up via the pen shading techniques which have been explained to me. I was actually very surpriced that when I draw with pencil it looks fine, but when I draw with pen it looks like nothing... I guess it will take some time and a lot of patience. Thanks for your hints, I will make use of them.
What is for you the average time to finish a pen draw?
